Winners. Also, What's Wrong with the Giveaways?

The Frugal Hostess was surprised to see that only four people entered the cocktail books giveaway last week.  Seriously, while she doubts their sanity every day, more than four people read this blog, at least sometimes.  So why didn't more people enter?
Here are some theories:

1.  Crappy prize?
2.  No deadline listed (TFH always forgets that!).
3.  Too much money/free stuff on your hands?

If you would, please help FruHo by letting her know what would make giveaways more exciting.  The cook books are coming in fast and furious, and there's no way she can hoard them all for herself.

Meanwhile, EVERYONE WINS!!!  That's right - all four of your who entered the cocktail books giveaway win.  Please send your mailing address to frugalhostess @ gmail.com to claim your prizes.

The Frugal Hostess insists that you come hang out on Facebook. What? Like you don't already spend three hours there a day.

  2. I didn't enter that one, not much of a cocktail girl and I thought it'd be better if someone who really wanted it won. However cookbooks? oh yeah baby, bring it on!

  4. Yes, it's all about the deadline. Don't list one and people file it away in their mental "Eventually" bucket.

That's why free trials of some services with monthly billing last 60 or 90 days. That's long enough to fall into that "Eventually" bucket, and you eventually forget to cancel it, so they get to bill you.

If you're doing a pre-launch for a large product, give it two weeks or more and have multiple reminders. If it's small, give no more than a week, and have a reminder on the last day before you pull the winner. You'll get half your entries on that last day.

PS: I didn't enter for the same reason as Tracy: Not a big cocktail drinker.

  5. I didn't enter because I forgot. I, however, DO like cocktails.

  6. Unless you give e-books away for my kindle, I cannot enter. I have zero space left in my house for books. And by zero, I actually mean less than that.

  9. I missed it too or I would have entered...if you put that if is a giveaway with the ending date in the HEADING of the post I am sure I wouldn't miss it next time.
When you send me the email I do not get the whole post so I have to click to it and if I am busy and your header and first few sentences do not catch my eye, well.......so little spare time in my life!
